Taiwan entrepreneurs landing LA and received praise from LA

TeaLa and TINVA integrated Taiwan's A team Hub Venture, MOSAIC Venture, and HAOSHI Accelerator to lead nearly thirty startups in ESG, Medical, and Deep-Tech from Taiwan in two in-depth matchmaking events in Los Angeles, receiving high recognition from LA local venture capital and accelerator ecosystem.

Under the guidance of SMES(MOEA) and ITRI, Dr. Shih Min-yi, the head of TeaLa LA Office and also the director of A team Hub Venture, took charge of the initiative. Through over two months of selection and mentoring, the Los Angeles startup ecosystem has become more aware of the development of Taiwan startups in the U.S.

Dr. Shih Min-yi has been deeply involved in the LA startup Eco-System for many years. He is also the D.D. chairman of TCA Venture LA, the largest angel community in the western United States, and a mentor for accelerators such as LARTA and Cedars-Sinai. After coaching Taiwanese startups to adjust their business models and US development strategies, he invited LARTA Chairman Rohit Shukla, Cedars-Sinai investor Kinshuk Kocher, Big4Bio Chief Operating Officer Dave Whelan, Los Angeles Venture Association Executive Director Darren Eng, Pegasus Angel Accelerator Partner Lucas Pols, UCLA Venture/Accelerator Mentor Taissa Maleh and other Los Angeles accelerators and investors to give Taiwanese startups practical advice on US development during the two-day event. In addition to the forum and demo pitch, mentors were arranged to have in-depth sideline talks with the team before the meeting.

Dr. Shih Min-yi, the main organizer of the event, pointed out that Taiwan possesses world-class technology manufacturing capabilities, while Los Angeles serves as an important gateway to North America.Through Select LA/TW, the aim is to accelerate technology translation and industry globalization, assisting Taiwanese innovative enterprises in establishing a foothold in the international market. 

LARTA Chairman Rohit Shukla delivered a keynote speech on the second day, mentioning that LARTA, as a startup accelerator under the City of Los Angeles, adds value to the ESG, Medical, and Deep Tech industries. He also expressed great excitement about the capabilities of the visiting Taiwanese startups and hopes to establish a long-term deep cooperation network with Taiwan.
